You don’t have to return to the dealership for servicing

A common misconception is that your vehicle must be serviced by the dealership you bought it from in order to keep the manufacturer’s warranty in place.

That is generally not the case.

You can choose an independent repairer for log book servicing, provided the vehicle is serviced in line with the manufacturer’s specified requirements and appropriate parts and lubricants are used. Your consumer rights under Australian Consumer Law are not lost simply because you choose an independent repairer.

We follow manufacturer specs to the letter, use quality parts and oils, and give you a properly stamped log book.

What Is Log Book Servicing?

Log book servicing is scheduled maintenance carried out according to the service requirements set by your vehicle’s manufacturer.

The required work varies by vehicle, age and kilometres travelled, and may include oil and filter changes, fluid checks, inspections and replacement of specified service items at particular intervals.

Keeping up with the service schedule helps:

  • Maintain an accurate service history

  • Identify wear or developing faults early

  • Keep the vehicle maintained to the manufacturer’s specified schedule

  • Support the conditions of the manufacturer’s warranty where applicable

  • Reduce the likelihood of avoidable mechanical problems

At each log book service, we check what is actually due for your vehicle and carry out the required service items rather than treating every service as the same generic package.

Stay on top of your next service

Once your vehicle is in our system, we can keep track of when its next service is due and send you a reminder before it comes around.

That means one less thing to remember, and less chance of scheduled servicing being pushed back until it becomes overdue.

What’s included in a log book service?

What is included depends on your vehicle, its kilometres and the service interval that is due.

We check the manufacturer’s service schedule for your specific make and model and complete the required service items for that interval.

Depending on the vehicle and service due, this may include:

  • Engine oil and oil filter replacement

  • Fluid level and condition checks

  • Brake inspection

  • Steering and suspension inspection

  • Tyre condition and pressure checks

  • Battery and charging system checks

  • Cooling system inspection

  • Belts and hoses

  • Lights and general safety checks

  • Filters, spark plugs and other scheduled replacement items where required

  • Inspection for leaks, wear or developing mechanical faults

Once the service is completed, the work is recorded in your vehicle’s log book or service history.

If we identify additional repairs that are not part of the scheduled service, we contact you before carrying out extra work.

If your vehicle has a digital service history rather than a traditional log book, we can record the completed service appropriately where the manufacturer system allows it.
